# What is a Next-Gen-Workflow?
*The method in which one captures, curates, and creates information*
---
## 1. Capture
_Capturing is the process of (quickly) grabbing ideas, highlights, notes, and key takeaways that bring value to one's knowledge graph._
---
## 2. Curate
*Curating is the process of organizing, grouping, and clarifying previously captured notes*
**The Purpose of Curating:**
1. be more relevant to future you
2. solidify your knowledge on subjects by revisiting, connecting, and summarizing previous entries into your own words
---
## 3. Create
_Creating is the process of establishing new ideas, insights, and realizations from your curated and captured knowledge. Created blocks should consist of one's own words in their own thought processes._
_The curations and captures should be linked as this provides the context for where thoughts originated. Note that one captured or curated thought can lead to multiple different insights._
_Finalized creations should be well formatted, cited, and publicly posted as they are proofs of one's knowledge building._

# How Do I Establish a Next-Gen-Workflow?
*Next Gen Workflows are established by utilizing various "Tools for Thought" together to produce an output*
## Tools for Thought
*An app, website, or software that enhances processes in some form or function*
### Tools for Thought Priorities
- Not duplicated by free or cheaper tool
- Be financially smart. Don't spend a ton of money on shiny new things. Learn to build tools you want if the only option is a pricey subscription. Become self-reliant rather than platform reliant. Lifetime purchases are the exception. Own your data and tools.
- Open-sourced
- Learn the code. Understand how things work. If you learn how it works you can build on it and create something more. Support open-source products.
- Ai enhanced
- Ai is here, take advantage of it. Learn how to best use Ai to expedite processes that would take forever without it. Those who know how to use Ai have a far greater advantage than those who don't.
- Useful
- Don't buy a hammer without a nail. Make sure there's a problem you're solving before grasping at a solution when there's no problem or goal present for it to solve.
- Interoperable
- Don't get locked into a service. If the company decides to raise prices and you're locked in you're screwed and that data is gone if you can't afford it. If it's interoperable, than you can transfer your data to a different provider or build your own. Emphasis on freedom.
- Cross-Platform
- I use multiple different devices, Apple for mobile and watch, Windows and Linux for computers, and possibly Macbook in the future

## 3 things to look for when changing tools
**What I Look For When Moving from One App to Another:**
> my main goal is to improve my workflows because they improve my quality of life.
**3 imperative things:**
1. **Simplicity**. I have to make things simpler. If not, why the hell am I moving?
2. **Improvement**. I have to improve: higher performance, less friction, and speed up my life.
3. **Fresh air**. I need to enjoy a better GUI and UX. It motivates me a lot. It gives me energy, power, dynamite to keep accomplishing my Goals without suffering, feeling anxious, or any other negative emotion.
